Opposition United Party for National
Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema says he has learnt
with shock, the death of Archbishop Emeritus James Mwewa Spaita.

In a statement to ZANIS in Lusaka today, Mr. Hichilema expressed his
heartfelt condolences to the Spaita family and the Catholic Church
countrywide.

Mr. Hichilema said Archbishop Spaita was involved in many national
issues and he has run his race.

He said the deceased clergyman stood for social justice and carried
out his pursuit with conviction.

Mr. Hichilema noted that it would therefore be a fitting tribute to
Archbishop Spaita if the nation upholds the justice he stood for.

Archbishop Emeritus James Spaita died on November 4, 2014, at the age
of 80, at Kasama General Hospital after an illness.

He will be buried tomorrow in Kasama.
