Govt opens Presidential funeral accounts

—Government has opened a presidential funeral holding account at the Bank of Zambia with ten other transit accounts in ten commercial banks.

 

This is contained in a statement issued by Secretary to Cabinet, Roland Msiska, and made available to ZANIS in Lusaka.

 

Dr Msiska said the opening of accounts is in response to the numerous requests by Zambians and friends both locally and abroad who have indicated their wish to make financial contributions to the funeral of the late President.

 

He said that this is in recognition and appreciation of the positive impact which the late President Sata had on people’s lives and wellbeing.

 

Dr Msiska has since advised well-wishers to deposit their contributions from their locations and towns in the various presidential funeral transit accounts held with ZANACO , Indo Zambia Bank , Investrust, First National Bank FNB and Cavmont Bank.

 

Other transit accounts are at Stanbic Bank, Barclays, Standard Chartered ,ECO Bank and Finance Bank.

 

Dr Msiska also said Zambians and friends wishing to make contributions can contact the Permanent Secretary, Administration at Cabinet Office in Lusaka or Provincial Permanent Secretaries in any of the ten provinces in the country.

 

President Michael Sata died at St Edwards Hospital in London, England, on Tuesday October 28, 2014.
