UK mourns with Zambia

United Kingdom foreign secretary Philip Hammond says the late President Michael Sata played a commanding role in the public life of his country over three decades.

Mr. Hammond said the UK is saddened by the demise of President Sata.

He has since conveyed his condolences to the late President’s family and to the Zambian people.

The late Mr. Sata served as governor of Lusaka and held several ministerial positions their after.

He also served as the main opposition leader and finally the as President of Zambia.

This is contained in a statement released to ZANIS News in Lusaka today.
