Court issues bench warrant against a juvenile for escaping custody

Itezhi Tezhi October 20, 2014,ZANIS—Itezhi Tezhi magistrate court has issued a bench warrant against a 17-year-old juvenile offender of Itezhi Tezhi district who escaped lawful custody at Itezhi Tezhi police station.

 

And two fishermen of Lilanda compound in Itezhi Tezhi district in central province have been arraigned before Itezhi Tezhi magistrate court for allegedly breaking into a building and stealing property worth K7, 150.

 

The juvenile offender who escaped from lawful custody on 17th October 2014 is facing several charges of stock theft contrary to section 272, and 275 of the penal code of the laws of Zambia.

 

The offences were allegedly committed between June and October this year and involved theft of goats and cattle.

 

Itezhi Tezhi magistrate Munalula Mubita issued the bench warrant against the juvenile offender after state prosecutor   Mwanza Chikankeni applied to do so.

 

The juvenile is likely to be charged with another offence of escaping from lawful custody contrary to section 119 cap 87 0f the laws of Zambia in addition to stock theft case he is facing.

 

In the same court, two fishermen of Lilanda compound in Itezhi Tezhi district in central province have been arraigned before Itezhi Tezhi magistrate court for allegedly breaking into a building and stealing property worth K7, 150.

 

Simunengele Musiyalela,21 and Anthony Kamuchacha, 24 both of Lilanda compound in Itezhi Tezhi are accused of one count of breaking into a building  with intent to commit felony  which is contrary to  cap 87 of the laws of Zambia.

 

It is alleged that the duo on 9th September 2014 jointly and while acting together did break into a store and stole assorted property which include printer, computer, home theatre system  and amplifier   all valued at K7, 150 the property of Namuyamba Mubulengo.

 

The duo have since denied the charge and the court has adjourned the matter to 28th October 2014 for trial.

Meanwhile a 22-year-old woman of Lilanda compound in Itezhi Tezhi district in central province   has appeared in Itezhi Tezhi magistrate court for biting a man.

 

Memory Sichilimwa is who has pleaded not guilty is charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm contrary to section 248 of the penal code of the laws of Zambia.

 

Particulars of the offence allege that Sichilimwa on 10th October 2014 in Itezhi Tezhi at Itezhi Tezhi district of Zambia assaulted Musangu Chibinga thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm.

 

Sichilimwa who has since denied the charge claims that she bite Chibinga because she was defending herself when Chibinga cruelly pulled her hair extensions.

 

The matter has been adjourned to October 21 for trial.
