Business community in Mongu complain of high cost of doing business

The business community in Mongu district in Western Province says the cost of conducting business is high.

Speaking when Justice Minister Edgar Lungu met the business community at Country Lodge in Mongu, Ikanuke Noyoo, an entrepreneur said the business community is faced with many challenges.

Mr Noyoo named some of the challenges as high electricity tariffs and cost of construction.

He said the issuance of title deeds which is cardinal to people who want to borrow money from lending institutions takes long.

And chairperson for Limulunga la Makuwa Women’s club Florence Mwauluka appealed to government to empower women with capital and capacity building.

Meanwhile, another businessman Muyunda Mbikusita said there is need to commercialize the livestock sector and create employment by introducing breeding centres.

Mr Mbikusita said poverty alleviating cannot be achieved if animal diseases are not controlled.

He further appealed to Government to restock animals that have reduced in their numbers in the past years.
