Mkushi DC hails Barclays Bank for investing in youth enterprises

Mkushi, October 18 ZANIS—Mkushi District Commissioner (DC) Luka Mwamba has saluted Barclays Bank for investing in the development of Youth owned enterprises.

 Mr. Mwamba said government was gratified to learn that the bank shares similar objectives that are aimed at boosting youth enterprise through capacity building initiatives such as financial literacy.

 He noted that the financial literacy trainings for Youths are in line with government’s efforts of improving and consolidating the plight of youths as factors of production for the future of the nation.

 He commended the gesture of considering youths in Mkushi for financial literacy trainings, saying it was essentially an investment into the future of the district.

 At the same forum, Barclays Bank Board Member Newton Young disclosed that the initiative was part of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs for this year.

 Mr. Young said the bank had invested over K450, 000 countrywide into projects that are aimed at increasing financial literacy levels amongst youths.

 He said that the bank was determined to complement government’s efforts in developing entrepreneurial skills for Youths, adding that Barclays bank employees were playing a crucial in this plan.

 He stressed on the need for Youths in Mkushi to cultivate important qualities such as self-confidence, assertiveness as well as good insight into business operations.

 Mr. Young further emphasized the need for youths to consider exploring many strategies of enhancing their businesses and that financial literacy was key in this regard.

 More than 40 youths attended the workshop at Mariana Motel in Mkushi.
