Football administrator Simata Simata says Zambia needs to invest heavily in football in order for the country to win many international competitions.

Simata said football is one sport which is expensive to run hence more resources should be provided to improve the sport to higher levels.

The football administrator was speaking today in the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) television programme dubbed ‘football at 50’.

He said countries, which have prospered in the game of football, have invested a lot to reach the level they are at the moment.

He has meanwhile bemoaned the dilapidated football infrastructure in the country.

Simata suggested that football grounds should not be established where there are bars and markets.

Meanwhile, Simata has called on government to lower taxes on football teams in the country which are financially supported by individual persons.

Simata, who is proprietor of FAZ division two team Mtendere dynamos, said this is one way of encouraging individuals to continue supporting the development of football in the country.

He has since called on government to support individuals who are willing to supplement government efforts in enhancing various sports disciplines in the country.
