A 50 year old Mbala municipal council employee has died in a suspected suicide circumstance after receiving a suspension letter from the Town Clerk, Kennedy Mwansa.

Director of Human Resource and Administration, Mwilu Lukwesa confirmed the death of Pythias Mung’andu, who served as Hotel Supervisor at Grasshopper Hotel run by the Council to ZANIS yesterday.

Mr. Lukwesa said Mung’andu died of suspected poisoning in the Mbala general hospital on Sunday after receiving the suspension letter for illegal allocation and selling of plots and falsification of council documents.

He disclosed that Mung’andu left a note on his table with inscriptions: “Let Kennedy Mwansa Enjoy and My Family Suffer,” suggesting to have intentions to commit suicide.

Mr. Lukwesa narrated that the council slapped the suspension on Mung’andu for a dismissible offence pending determination of his case by the Local Government Service Commission.

The Director of Human Resource and Administration regretted that the employee who has served the council since August 2005 has died before he was cleared of his alleged wrong doings.
