The Public and Private Drivers Association of Zambia (PPDAZ) is expecting a consignment of 120 Higer buses from China.

PPDAZ president Josiah Majuru told ZANIS in Lusaka today that the buses are expected to arrive in Zambia in the next two months.

Mr. Majuru said the new consignment of the Higer buses will service areas that have been opened up through the construction of new roads.

He explained that the association was targeting areas outside the city where people have been using ox-carts and open vans as transport for human beings.

He said the association was displeased that some areas of the country were still being serviced by open vans and tractors as mode of transport for people.

Mr. Majuru explained that the offloading of the 120 Higer buses on the market will help to ease transport problems in remote areas.

The PPDAZ president said the association was taking advantage of the new roads which government is constructing by assigning buses to such routs.

Meanwhile, Mr. Majuru has saluted government for constructing three roundabouts along the Kafue road.

He said the development will help mitigate accidents along the road.

He said the barrier placed on the middle of the highway will help avoid unnecessary road accidents.
