Bank of Zambia Deputy Governor for Administration Tukiya Kankasa has called on financial institutions in
the country to interact with Habitat for Humanity Zambia on how to provide low cost houses for the less privileged people in society.

Dr. Kankasa says there were many underprivileged people especially women that were in dire need of decent accommodation.

She said this today when she graced the Bankers Build programme for the disadvantaged people in Kamanga compound in Lusaka.

She said today’s Bankers Build programme coincides with the cerebration of the nation’s golden jubilee celebrations.

Dr. Kankasa said the programme demonstrates financial institutions’ commitment to improving the welfare of women in providing decent
houses.

She stated that the provision of decent accommodation to the vulnerable people by Habitat for Humanity Zambia will in turn enable the

families to experience freedom from homelessness and allow them to take better care of their livelihoods.

And speaking at the same event, First National Bank (FNB) Chief Executive Officer Sarel Van Zyi praised Habitat for Humanity-Zambia

for their tireless efforts to help poverty stricken communities with decent houses.

Mr, Zyi said the First National Bank will continue working with Habitat for Humanity-Zambia in its quest to uplift the living standard
of the poor people in Zambia.

He also disclosed that FNB has donated a cheque worth thirty thousand Kwacha (K30, 000.00) toward the building of decent houses for two
identified vulnerable women in Kamanga compound.
