Golden jubilee incentives on cards

Chipata, September 9, 2014, ZANIS…The Chipata Municipal council will
next month introduce incentives to land developers as a way of
celebrating Zambia’s Golden Jubilee.

Chipata town clerk Davies Musenge told ZANIS in an interview today that the local authority will allow tax rebates for land developers to encourage people in the district to acquire plots.

Mr. Musenge said the council is currently working on modalities on how
to implement the tax rebates which will benefit it clients.

He also noted that Chipata district has a good reason to celebrate the
50 years of Zambia’s independence because it has recorded massive
developments in all sectors of the economic.

Mr. Musenge cited some of the developments  as the construction of
township roads at a cost of K89 million, the construction, schools,
a district hospital and the installation of traffic lights as some of
the major developments taking place in the district.

He stated that Chipata has also seen an increase in economic
activities which he said had improved the social status of the people in
the district.
Mr Musenge said the local authority plans to expand the town and has
to this effect  acquired land from traditional leaders.
He said this will encourage people to acquire land for both domestic
and commercial use, a move which he said will see more infrastructure
development and enhance the economy of the district.

The Town Clerk hopes that Chipata will soon attain a city status saying
there will be more infrastructure development.

And Mr Musenge however stated that the council is facing challenges in
the implementation of the “Keep Zambia Clean and Health Campaign.”

He said the council will soon mobilize resources to ensure that it ups
efforts in the campaign which is aimed at improving the surroundings of the town.
