Govt urges contractors to move with time

Serenje, September 8th,  2014,  ZANIS—Government has urged contractors to move with time and ensure that all developmental projects are completed within the agreed contractual period.

 

Transport, Works Supply and Communications Deputy Minister Mwimba Malama says government will not entertain any local and foreign contractors.

 

Mr. Malama said the move is aimed at ensuring that people of Zambia have access to social amenities meant to alleviate their sufferings.

 

He said government is in a hurry to develop the country hence the need for contractors to adhere to the contract terms and not to frustrate government efforts.

 

ZANIS reports that Mr. Malama said this in Serenje District today when he toured various governments developmental projects being undertaken in the district.

 

Among the projects the deputy minister toured were the 149 government houses currently under construction the district hospital which is on phase III and the 32 kilometer upgrade of Serenje township roads to bituminous standard

 

And Mr. Malama has directed Serenje District commissioner Charles Mwelwa to undertake a regular inspection of all government developmental projects in the district.
