And a civil society organisation in Northern Province has expressed fear that there could be an outbreak of Ebola in the region.

Anti-Voter Apathy Project-AVAP Coordinator for Northern and Muchinga Provinces, Christopher Chikwanda said this in relation to the porous Mbala, Nsumbu, Lwambwe-Chomba and Kasesha borders.

Mr Chikwanda said people from the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo-DRC where it has reported to have cases of Ebola are freely entering the country without being screened.

The AVAP regional chief who is in Mbala has since implored on immigration and health authorities to be on high alert.

However, a senior medical practitioner in Kasama has allayed fears of Ebola outbreak in the Northern Region.

Kasama General Hospital Medical Superintendent, Elijah Mutoloki said there is no need for people in the province to panic over the Ebola outbreak.

Dr Mutoloki was however quick to state that health authorities in the region are on HIGH alert in case of the disease breaks out
