Govt. spends K697, 000 on bridge construction in Kabompo

 

Kabompo,  August 20, 2014, ZANIS —-  T he Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit under the office of the Vice President is spending K697, 000 in Kabompo district towards re-construction of three bridges in the district.

ZANIS reports that Acting District Commissioner Hendrix Solochi disclosed this in an interview in Kabompo today.

Mr Solochi said the bridges are Maveve at K500, 000, Kasalya-Samudengo at K28, 000 and Mushivi at K169, 000.

He said the contractors are on site at Maveve and Kasalya- Samudengo bridges while the district is yet to receive funding for Mushivi bridge on Katuka river.

Mr Solochi lamented that the three bridges were washed away by floods several years ago but all efforts to re-construct them have not been successful.

Meanwhile, the people of Maveve and Kasalya-Samudengo have praised the government for finding the money to rebuild their bridges as promised.
