Govt hails China for training more than 2000 Zambian students

Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Vocational Training and Early Education Nevelyn Willombe says government appreciates the role the Chinese government plays in the Zambian education sector.

Mr Willombe said the Chinese government has trained more than two thousand (2000) Zambian students in many academic fields for the benefit of Zambia.

The Deputy Minister was speaking today during a farewell party hosted for 37 Zambian students at the Chinese Embassy who have been awarded Chinese government Scholarships in China.

He praised the Chinese government for the gesture adding that the bilateral relations existing between China and Zambia need to be embraced by the people of the two nations.

Mr Willombe stated that 22 students will purse undergraduate studies, while 12 students will study post-graduate while three will be trained at PHD level respectively.

And speaking that at the same occasion, Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Young Younging said 1000 Zambians are currently studying in China in different disciplines.

Mr Younging said the bilateral economic and trade relations between the two nations is rapidly expanding.

He stated that China is helping Zambia in many areas of the economy such as the construction sector and cited the Chiawa Bridge among other projects.

Mr Younging disclosed that China will continue rendering massive support to the Zambian government in many sectors of the economy in order to foster economic growth in the country.

He urged the students to work hard during their period of study in China.
