The opposition Movement for Multi Party Democracy (MMD) has attributed its poor performance in the just ended by-elections to compromised party structures.

And the former ruling party has warned its members trying to use the party’s loss in the Mangango by-elections to gain political mileage that they will be dealt with accordingly.

Addressing journalists during a media briefing at the party secretariat this morning, MMD President Dr. Nevers Mumba, says the party has conceded defeat in the just ended by-elections and has since congratulated the PF for scooping the Mangango seat.

Dr. Mumba was however quick to mention that the party has difficulties in winning by-elections in places where MMD Members of Parliament are serving as deputy ministers in government because party structures are already compromised.

He says it is for this reason that the party will embark on the re-organization of party structures in preparation for the 2016 general elections.

The MMD president adds that during the reorganization of the party structures there will be no sacred cows even if it requires the dissolution of all committees and fresh mandates granted.

Dr Mumba has since assured his party members that the MMD will unseat the PF come 2016.

And responding to a question on the fate of MMD Die Hard National Coordinator Bowman Lusambo who some party members are demanding his expulsion, MMD National Secretary Muhabi Lungu says Mr. Lusambo has no authority to represent the party in anyway.

Mr. Lungu has since advised the media to stop quoting him as MMD Die Hard Youth Wing National Coordinator saying he is not authorized to issue out statements on behalf of the party.
