Peaceful local govt. elections campaigns please Mushitu

Mwense, August 18th, 2014, ZANIS —  Mwense District Commissioner Mumba Mushitu is happy with the manner in which campaigns in the district have been conducted.

 

Mr Mumba disclosed that there has been no case of any violence reported so far and he is happy that Mwense is a peaceful District.

 

ZANIS reports that the D.c said this in an interview in Mwense District, today.

 

Two wards in Mwense Central Constituency namely Kasengu and Mpasa wards will tomorrow be electing their Councilors in the local government by-elections.

 

Returning officer for Kasengu ward Betty Liswaniso announced that Four Candidates namely; Bwalya Derrick of the United Nations Independent Party (UNIP), Mpande Josephine of United Party for National Development (UPND), Mubanga Emmanuel of the Movement for Multiparty and Democracy (MMD) and Mumbuluma Edward of the rulling Patriotic Front (PF) are contesting in tomorrow’s local government by-elections.

 

For Mpasa ward, Four other candidates are also participating in tomorrow’s by- elections, these include; Bwalya Costern of the United Party for National Development (UPND), Chibale Derrick of the Movement for Multiparty and Democracy (MMD), Mwansa Harrison of the rulling Patriotic Front (PF) and Mwewa Kasuba of the United Nations Independent Party (UNIP).

Liswaniso also disclosed that Mwense Council Rest house will be totaling centre for Kasengu ward from six polling stations and Katuta Primary school will be the totalling centre for Mpasa ward of four polling stations.

 

District Commissioner has since urged voters to vote peacefully so that peace can continue prevailing in Mwense.
