Govt. installs four transmitters in Lunga District


LUNGA/August 11, 2014/ZANIS———- A  Traditional ruler Lunga District in Luapula Province says government’s efforts to take development to the remotest areas of Zambia is commendable.


Chief Nsamba of the Unga speaking people of Lunga District says he is happy with the government’s move to install four Telecommunication Towers  through the Zambia Information and Communication Technology Authority (ZICTA)  in Lunga District.


Chief Nsamba said this in an interview with ZANIS at Mpata harbour were ZICTA is currently keeping its equipment in readiness for ferrying the equipment for installation in the Towers to the four Islands in Lunga District.


The chief observed that Lunga was neglected by the past Governments saying the current Government has proven its campaign promises of bringing social services to area.


And Lunga District Commissioner Rose Chimbini says her office is happy with government’s efforts to improve livelihoods in the district.


The District Commissioner said the coming of the telecommunications project will provide jobs for the local people in the area.


The Zambia Information and communication Technology Authority is installing four communication towers in for Islands namely Kalima Nkonde, Kasoma Lunga, Bwalya Mponda and Nsamba in Lunga District.


ZICTA is working with Cross Ways a Chinese Company to install the four towers.
