ZICTA makes Catherine its good will ambassador
Lusaka, August 2nd, 2014, ZANIS—Boxing Sensation Catherine Phiri has become Zambia Information Communication and Technology Authority (ZICTA)’s Child online Protection Goodwill Ambassador.
ZICTA Board Member Emmanuel Musonda says his organisation has chosen Catherine as ZICTA goodwill ambassador because of her good and humble life background.
Musonda said the World boxing Council (WBC) Silver Bantamweight Champion will among other duties embark on a national wide campaign to sensitise young people against cybercrime.
He also said Phiri will also be on board during ZICTA road shows to raise awareness about the abuse of internet and other related issues by young.
ZANIS Sports Reports that Mr. Musonda said this at the ongoing Zambia Agricultural and Commercial Show Society in Lusaka today.
And Musonda expressed confident that Phiri will impact positively on young people and dissuade them from engaging in illicit activities that would ruin their lives.
Musonda has further praised Phiri for being the first female Zambia boxer to win an internationally a recognized boxing belt.
Phiri is the current World Boxing Council (WBC), African Boxing Union and World Professional Boxing Federation (WPBF) Champion.
Meanwhile, Musonda disclosed that the authority will facilitate Phiri’s enrollment and study at the Zambia Information Communication and Technology College in Ndola once she complete her high school.
