Chiluba MP praised for selfless gesture
Chilubi, July 24, 2014, ZANIS…CIVIC leaders in Chilubi district of Northern Province have applauded their area Member of Parliament Obius Chisala for his initiative to rehabilitate local roads using his own money.
Chilubi district council vice chairman Ingwa Gondwe praised the MP in an interview with ZANIS recently.
Mr. Gondwe who is also Lwenda ward councilor observed that in the past many roads almost became impassable in the area.
He added that it is for this reason that councilors in the area were commending the MP for showing his generosity by extending part of personal money towards the maintenance of such roads in the district.
The civic leader mentioned some of the roads being rehabilitated as Muchinshi- Santa Maria road, Chitonge- Kabanga road, Chipelembe- Muleka and Myenge road.
He observed that the maintenance of the roads would ease people’s movements and transportation of agricultural produce to the marketing centers.
And speaking in the same interview, Ng’uni ward councilor Joseph Tami called on the MP to continue with the same spirit as it was an indication of a good leader.
Mr. Tami further said Mr. Chisala has proved that his passion for the people in his constituency is beyond everyone’s expectation.
Mr. Tami who is also Patriotic Front (PF) district treasurer explained that the project has since gobbled thirty two thousand kwacha (K32, 000) since it started early this month.
A check by ZANIS found people busy patching, and clearing the roads in the area.
