Mwandi celebrates public service day

Mwandi, June 23, 2014, ZANIS…..Mwandi District Commissioner Akufuna Chabi says government will continue its mandate in the provision of effective and efficient service delivery to the public.

Ms Chabi was speaking in Mwandi today at the official opening of the commemoration activities of the African Public Service day dubbed “Celebrating 50 years of Gods favor: public service anchored on continuous improvement in service delivery for sustainable development and wellbeing of the people of Zambia”.

Ms Chabi said government has come up with a policy of creating new districts to ensure that public service delivery is improved and brought closer to the people.

She said Zambia this year is not only celebrating its golden jubilee independence anniversary but also the inspiring and courageous generations of hard working men and women in the public service who have over the 50 years of the nations independence provided a selfless service to their communities.

Ms Chabi added that the theme does not only look at the last 50 years of prosperity as a nation but also how to tackle challenges faced by public service institutions.

She noted that it is the duty of public service providers to serve the communities they are operating in to the best of their abilities so that they could bring meaningful positive change and quality of lives to the public.

She further urged public service providers not to be arrogant but interact with the community by explaining how the various departments in the district operate.

She added that public service providers should listen to the views of the people they serve as they execute their duties.

Ms Chabi also urged the residents of Mwandi to feel free to approach government workers in the district as their feedback was critical.
