Homeless Shiwangandu  family receives short in the arm


Shiwang`andu, June 19, 2014. ZANIS…DISASTER Management and Mitigation
Unit (DMMU) has donated assaulted goods to help a family of six that
was left homeless after fire guttered the house in Mabili Village in
Shiwang`andu District.


Shiwang`andu District Commissioner (DC) Moses Katebe expressed
gratitude for the help that DMMU has rendered to the homeless family
and for the continued support of lessening and handling disaster in
the district.


Mr. Katebe disclosed that the donated items include a tent, water
basins, 4bags of Mealie meal, 3 blankets and 3 mattresses among other
items.


The District Commissioner said this yesterday when he handed over the donations on
behalf of DMMU to Mable Bwalya a disaster victim.


And receiving the gesture Mable Bwalya a mother of  five thanked
Government for responding to her matter in time.


Ms. Bwalya added that the donations will be of great help to her
family as everything was consumed to ashes by fire leaving them with
nothing.

Meanwhile, Village Headman Bernard Katondo disclosed that in 2 years’ time 2 houses have been burnt so far in Mabili Village.
