FRA targets 17 000 metric tonnes in Isoka District

——Food reserve Agency FRA has targeted to buy about 17000 metrics tones of white Maize in Isoka District of Muchinga province.

Isoka District Commissioner Major Joe Siwila disclosed this today when he officiated a two days orientation workshop for FRA depot clerks at Luangwa Guest house.

He pointed out that Isoka is expected to have a bumper harvest and the FRA has done a good thing of starting preparations early.

Major. Siwila said Isoka district has 18 depots and 36 deport clerks have been employed to man their respective depots.

And Muchinga province FRA marketing manager Musiwa Mukololo availed to the new deport clerks that FRA in Muchinga province is expected to buy 65,000 metric tonnes this year.

Mr Mukololo said the agency is currently training staffs and setting up area to start buying maize soon.

Meanwhile Mr. Mukololo said. FRA was waiting for moisture content to drops to 12.5 percent before starting buying maize.


Government has put aside K40 million for maize buying this year.
