— Opposition Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) president Nevers Mumba made a surprise appearance at 2014 intercompany relay to race with First Lady Christine Kaseba- Sata.
The opposition leader led a team of other MMD officials in the 10.5 KM relay race which started was held at the Showgrounds.
The out spoken opposition leader who is also a clergyman said he was participating to show the nation that sports was good for a healthy nation which he said was cardinal in attaining national development.
He said exercises are important to every individual as they help shape one’s health.
The MMD leader has also cautioned motorist not to drive under the influence of alcohol in order to reduce the rampant accidents that have led to loss of lives.
The annual event which is under the theme ‘Act now to stop road accidents, stop child marriages and child abuse’ attracted 900 participants from 70 organisations.
And MMD National Secretary Muhabi Lungu said the Inter Company Relay is an important national event as it promotes national unity and togetherness.
