Upgrading of the Musonda Falls power station commences

Lusaka, June 12,ZANIS– The upgrading of the Musonda Falls power station in Mansa District has commenced.

 

ZESCO Spokesperson Henry Kapata says the power station is being upgraded from its current 5 mega watts to 10 mega watts, respectively.

 

Mr. Kapata says project is jointly funded between Government and ZESCO limited at a cost of $34.7 million.

 

ZANIS  reports that the Power company spokesperson said this in an interview in Lusaka today.

 

He added that the contract has already been awarded to Sinohydro Corporation Limited and is expected to be completed within a period of 18 months.

 

He disclosed that so far a total of $5.2 million has already been spent for the same project.

 

Mr. Kapata said once completed, the project will resolve some of the operational challenges being faced in Luapula province.
