—The Mansa Magistrate’s court has fined a 33 year old man K2000 as compensation to the wife he has divorced.
This is in a matter in which Agness Musonda, 22, of Kolota village in Chief Mabumba’s area in Mansa district, sued her husband for divorce.
Before Local court Magistrate, Godfridah Kasonde, was Lackson Lumbwe, of Sumbu village in Chief Kalasa Lukangaba’s area in Mansa.
Musonda sued her husband for abandoning her and a three-year-old son for another woman.
Facts before the court were that Lumbwe stopped supporting his wife and child financially and left his matrimonial home for another woman of the same village.
In passing judgment local court magistrate Kasonde told Lumbwe to compensate his wife by giving her K2, 000 which will be paid in ten months and also to share all the household goods equally.
The couple has since been divorced due to marital disputes.
