Mr. Pascal Nsokolo, NAREP International Coordinator was speaking ahead of the intergenerational dialogue which is scheduled for Tuesday 13 May on “The world that you want”, which is the dialogue between global leaders and young people. The dialogue is being hosted by the Kofi Annan Foundation and the United Nations on development priorities of particular importance to young people. Subject areas include: a good education, better job opportunities, action on climate change and better health care.

He urged the Zambian youth to join the dialogue and help shape future development global goals post 2015. With the deadline for the Millennium development goals drawing closer, the international community is preparing to define a framework for the future. With half the world’s population under 25 and set to inherit the post 2015 world, he pointed out that it was vital that the views and perspectives of young people are at the heart of this discussion and that they have their say in the post 2015 decisions.

Mr. Nsokolo also spoke of his desire to get young people more engaged with the political process, saying that the voice of young people is very important because they are the future.
