The Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ) says the best way to honor First Republican President Kenneth David Kaunda is to declare his birthday a public holiday.

CCZ Secretary General Susanne Matale has told QFM News in an interview that declaring Dr. Kaunda’s Birthday a holiday would not take away too much of the citizen’s work time, because he rightly deserves to be honored in such a manner.

Reverend Matale says Dr. Kaunda sacrifice a lot for the people of Zambia, hence the need for him to be honored.

She says Zambians should be able to celebrate the first republican president’s birthday in a relaxed way by reflecting with joy on his contributions even as they look forward to the future.

Reverend Matale has since appealed to the government to consider declaring Dr Kaunda’s birthday a public holiday.

First Republican President Dr. Kenneth Kaunda yesterday, April 28th celebrated his 90th birthday by appreciating the people who have played a role in shaping his life from his childhood.
