A 50 -year- old man of Chanka Village of chief Kafwimbi in Nakonde District in Muchinga Province has been shot dead on suspicion of practicing witchcraft.

Muchinga Province Deputy Police Commissioner Bonny Kapeso confirmed the development in an interview with the ZANIS in Chinsali .

Mr. Kapeso identified the deceased as Gleson Siwanzi who was shot   by unknown people on suspicion of practicing witchcraft adding that no suspects have been arrested yet.

Mr Kapeso has since advised people to exercise responsibility and appreciate the elderly in their community.

Meanwhile, a 29 year old man of Nafunda village of Chikwanda area in Mpika district has committed suicide after being fired from work.

Patrick Musonda, 29, had gone missing on April 10, 2014 and was discovered dead in the bush by someone who had gone to collect firewood.

Mr Kapeso said Musonda was working for a construction company and took his own life after being fired from work.

The body of Musonda was found hanging in a decomposed state and police suspect no foul play.

In another incident, a 14- year minor of Chinsali girl’s teacher’s compound has been defiled by an unnamed boy whose age has not yet been established.

Mr Kapeso disclosed that the boy is on the run.

The Police Commissioner said the girl was defiled around 19hrs in Choshi Village and a docket has since been opened.
