ACC impersonator nabbed

The Anti-Corruption Commission -ACC- in Kitwe on the Copperbelt has arrested a man for impersonating an ACC officer.

Thomas Phiri of Plot number 4092 Maina Soko road in Kalulushi, has been charged with two counts of impersonating as an ACC officer, contrary to the laws of Zambia.

Details in the first count are that on March 15, 2014 in Kitwe, PHIRI falsely presented himself to be a person employed as an Investigations Officer in the ACC.

And through this, he illegally assumed power to receive and investigate allegations of corruption.

In the second count, on March 30, 2014 in Kalulushi, Phiri falsely presented himself to be a person employed as an Investigations Officer in the ACC, and illegally assumed power to receive and investigate allegations of corruption.

Phiri has since appeared in court and has pleaded NOT guilty to the charges.

This is according to a statement released to ZNBC news in Lusaka on Friday by the ACC’s Corporate Affairs Officer, Jonathan Siame.
