Govt. vows to take development to all parts of Eastern province

Chipata, March 26, 2014, ZANIS —  Government  says  it  will continue implementing developmental programmes in all parts of Eastern province including constituencies scheduled for by-elections.

Eastern Province Permanent Secretary Chileshe Mulenga  says government cannot stop implementing developmental projects in constituencies scheduled to hold by-elections as development projects have to continue with or without by-elections.

He dispelled assertions that government officials have been campaigning for the ruling party on pretext that they are inspecting developmental projects, in areas that are scheduled for by-elections.

Dr. Mulenga said that developmental projects have to be inspected regardless of their location as this will help ensure that quality works are handed over to government for the benefit of the general citizenry.

The Permanent Secretary said this in  an interview with ZANIS in Chipata District, today.

Earlier, today, former President Rupiah Banda’s son Andrew charged that government officials have been going to campaign on pretext that they are inspecting developmental projects.

Speaking on Feel Free radio on a programme dubbed ‘the big issue,’ Mr Banda said government has been selective when implementing the Public Order Act  as the opposition political parties are usually blocked from holding public meetings.
