An unknown man in Chisamba District has died after an anthill collapsed on him while he was quarrying sand for moulding bricks.
The incident happened yesterday afternoon in Shamputa Village in Chief Liteta’s Chiefdom.

ZANIS reports that Senior Headman Kampekete has confirmed the incident iun an interview in Chibombo district, today.

Mr. Kampekete however said details about the deceased have not yet been established as he is believed to have come from a different village in Chibombo District.

Mr. Kampekete said the deceased was digging sand from the hole at the foot of an anthill when it collapsed burying him alive.

He said at the time of accident, the deceased was with another person identified as Moses Mwanza, who however escaped unhurt.

Mr. Kampekete said the body of the deceased has since been retrieved and is currently at Liteta Hospital Mortuary awaiting identification and burial.

Efforts to get a comment from the authorities at Liteta Hospital failed by broadcast time.
