Rejection of constitutional motion; hidden agenda – Bwalya

The Opposition Alliance comprising the MMD, ABZ, ZED and PP has observed that the rejection of the constitutional motion by Parliament is further confirmation that the Patriotic Front (PF) government has an alleged hidden agenda on the whole constitutional making process.

On Tuesday this week Parliament rejected by 69 to 42, a motion moved by United Party for National Development (UPND) Mazabuka Central Member of Parliament Garry Nkombo urging government to put in place a roadmap for the enactment of a new constitution.

But the Opposition Alliance is of the view that the PF government has once again proven that it is an alleged dishonest government.

Opposition Alliance coordinator Frank Bwalya says the rejection of the constitutional motion is also an indication that the PF government has no intention of giving the people of Zambia a democratic and just constitution.

Fr. Bwalya has alleged that the PF government may also have a plan of going into 2016 general elections under the current constitution.

He says if the ruling PF does go into the 2016 general elections under a different constitution, it will allegedly use its arrogance of numbers in Parliament to include alleged undesirable things in a new constitution.

The Opposition Alliance coordinator was speaking to Qfm news in a telephone interview.
