ZEMA puts up stringent measures to ensure mining companies adhere to EIA

Zambia Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA) says it has put in place strict measures to ensure that new mining companies adhere to the rules and regulations of the environment impact assessment during mining activities.

ZEMA public relations officer Ireen Chipili has told Qfm News in an interview that the agency is closely monitoring the operations of all mining companies.

Mrs. Chipili says the Zambia Environmental Management Agency will not spare any mining company flouting environment regulations.

She adds that ZEMA is also has also monitoring other developmental projects taking place in the country to ensure that they adhere to the environmental impact assessment (EIA).

Mrs Chipili further states that the agency has beefed up inspectorate team which is conducting frequent inspections.
