Police in  the Northern province have arrested a co-operative depot Manager for theft of  405 bags of fertilizer valued at K40,000.00

The consignment was stolen from Tampakwe depot in Mporokoso district.

Northern province Police Commissioner Charity Katanga confirmed the development to ZANIS today and identified the suspect as Clavel Mwape aged 62 of Zacharia Chanda village in Mporokoso district.

It is alleged that Mwape between 23rd September 2013 and 10th February 2014 stole 405 25 x 50 kilo gram bags of a mixed consignment of basal and top dressing fertilizer meant for the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP).

The matter was later reported to police on 12 February 2014 by a named Marketing officer of Nsama district fishing camp.

Ms. Katanga said the suspect who has been on the run is in police custody in Mporokoso and will appear in court soon.
