PF scoops Namando ward in Luampa District

Kaoma , February 26, 2014, ZANIS —  The ruling Patriotic Front Party has won the local Government by-election in Namando ward in Luampa District of Western Province.

Returning Officer Peter Mulenga who announced the results at around 22:30 hours yesterday .

 

Mr. Mulenga  declared Sishau Muthale for PF as the duly elected councillor for Namando ward for Luampa constituency in Luampa District with 336 votes while his closest UPND rival Kaumba Chinyama got 146 votes and Matomola Namangolwa for UNIP polled 62 votes.

He  said 10 votes were spoiled and the winning PF candidate Muthala promised to work tirelessly in order to bring meaningful development in the newly created Luampa district in the Province.

And Luampa District electoral officer Henry Siwakwi has thanked all the political players in the just ended Namando ward by election for maintaining peace throughout the campaigning period
.
Meanwhile, Western Province Minister Josephine Limata who expressed happiness for the ruling PF’s entrance in her constituency has demonstrated that people in Luampa want to work with the Government of the day.

 Ms Liamta who is also Luampa constituency member of Parliament has appealed for unity among PF officials in the province and stops the current in-fighting that is taking place among members.

Namando ward fell vacant after the former area councillor Oliver Muliya resigned and Joined the civil service last year in November.
