Some law breakers in other parts of Kalabo  are  at the moment not facing the wrath of law because  police  have no  water transport.

Police Officer -In- Charge Kim Masambo told ZANIS in an interview that his department was handicapped at this time of the season due to lack of water transport.

Mr Masambo said it was for this reason that members of the public felt certain cases were not being attended to as expected.

The officer was reacting to calls by the families that were attacked on the Zambezi River by herders last week to have offenders brought to book.

The families have accused police of being induced by the attacked hence their non reaction on the matter.

He said the police could only do something if complainants offered their personal water transport so that culprits are apprehended.

“Lack of water transport is at the moment hindering the department from curbing crime in the district. I must say that crime has reduced because of floods but that is not to say we do not have criminal cases being committed,” Mr. Masambo said.

Mr. Masambo however assured residents of maximum security in the district.
