‘MEN At Work’ Diggers have signed three players to boost the club ahead of the 2014 Buildcon-Zambia Rugby Union (ZRU) season.Coach Peter Kang’ongwe said in an interview from Cape Town yesterday that Diggers had signed on Mwengwe Mutwale from Vaal University in South Africa, Chalwe Chaonza from Mufulira and Kelvin Changwe from ‘Killer Bees’ Ndola Wanderers.
Kang’ongwe said morale was high among the players who are in Cape Town for a two-week training camp ahead of the season opening on February 22 with the traditional opening matches.
“I am confident that the addition of these three players will greatly help us this season to retain the league title and win as many cup competitions as possible. This outing is also beneficial to the players because they are training under experienced coaches and will play against some good sides,” he said.
He said the team that comprises 25 players and five officials, started training on Monday under the watchful eye of South African coach Wilbur Kraak together with Chalton  Cloete and Winston Baard.
Kang’ongwe said Diggers plays its first practice game on Friday against Van der Stel to be followed by a Sunday fixture against Strand Pioneers before wrapping up against Raithby on Tuesday.
