KEEPING IT STRAIGHT: ADDING CONTEXT TO MY STATEMENT ON RADIO MANO

Following my statement “I’m like a small god” issued on Radio Mano in Kasama; Fred Mmembe’s Post Newspaper has, in their Edition of Today, Sunday 9th February 2014, covers my innocent remark and others will join in blowing the remark out of the intended context.

In Psalm 82:6, the scripture says ” I say, You are gods; you are all children of the Most High”. When God sent Moses to Pharaoh, He said, “See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh” (Exodus 7:1). To me, this simply means that Moses, as the messenger of God, was speaking God’s words and would therefore be God’s representative to the king. I therefore, wish to clarify that my statement was informed by my faith in God and my desire to follow through the teachings of the Word of God.

To those who wish to prey on my innocent remark, let them help by stating whether Psalm 82:6 exists or not and if quoting it is an offense.

Lastly, may I mention that relationship with God is a personal matter and I will never compare myself to God almighty. My Catholic teachings to me as a believer also include James 1: 7 which says “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world”. As a Christian, it is my humble duty to give to God’s work, to share with the vulnerable and to show mercy to the suffering from different corners of our country.

May God Bless Zambia
