Information Deputy Minister, Poniso Njeulu, has called on community radio stations in Eastern Province to start relaying ZNBC news to their listeners.
Mr Njeulu, who is in Eastern Province to tour ZANIS offices and radio stations, said relaying ZNBC news, which he said has a national character, is one way of people knowing what government is doing.
He encouraged radio stations in the province to approach ZNBC with this view to formalising the arrangement of rebroadcasting their news.
The Deputy Minister, who toured Breeze FM and Feel Free radio stations and radio Chikaya in Lundazi, said relaying ZNBC news will give an opportunity to communities where the national broadcaster’s signal does not reach to listen to ZNBC news.
Mr Njeulu urged the radio stations to seriously consider his advice as it was the ministry’s wish.
And Breeze FM’s proprietor, Mike Daka, welcomed the suggestion.
Mr Daka said the move will accord radio stations to broadcast national news as    content of community radio stationswas mostly concentrated around the province.
