RDA signs contract with Stefanutti Stocks Construction

—-The Road Development Agency (RDA) has signed a contract with Stefanutti Stocks Construction Zambia Ltd valued at K65, 356,865.

 

Stefanutti is expected to construct and rehabilitate 10 km of the Great East Road under the contract.

 

This came to light during the signing ceremony held at RDA head office in Lusaka today.

 

Speaking shortly after the signing ceremony, Director and Chief Executive Officer of RDA, Mwape Chiwala, said the rehabilitation works are expected to be completed in seven months.

 

 

Mr Chiwala said Stefanutti Stockes Construction Zambia was selected out of three companies after a competitive bidding process.

 

The companies that were competing for the said road include China Engineering Corporation, UNIK Construction Engineering ltd and Stefanutti Stocks Construction ltd.

 

He said the scope of work will include among other things, pothole patching, construction of shoulders, reconstruction of selected sections and repair/replacement of drainage structures and road furniture.

 

He said the Great East Road between Arcades and Airport Junction is earmarked for rehabilitation and reconstruction in order to prolong the life span of the highway.

 

Mr Chiwala said the improvement will result in improved traffic flow and increased road safety resulting in time saving as the road connects to Kenneth Kaunda International Airport and connects the country to the Nacala Corridor via Eastern province.

 

And Mr Watson Ng’ambi from the Stefanutti Stockes Construction Zambia said his company has been in Zambia for a long time and concentrates much on rural areas.

 

Mr Ng’ambi also said his company has done urban roads in urban areas like South Africa and around the world.

 

He also said that the road works were funded by the Road Networks and the government of Zambia.
