LUANO District Commissioner (DC) Luke Mwamba, who recently was involved in a road traffic accident, has been referred to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) in Lusaka for specialist treatment.

Mr Mwamba said yesterday that Mkushi District Hospital had decided to refer him to the UTH for further check-ups.
The DC said he had been experiencing pain in his chest despite the treatment he had been receiving.
He, however, said his legs were healing and that the doctors had described his condition as stable.

Two weeks ago, Mr Mwamba was admitted to hospital after sustaining injuries in a road traffic accident which claimed the life of his messenger.

Central Province Police Commissioner Standwell Lungu confirmed the accident which happened at John Wood Farm on the Great North Road.

The accident occurred about three kilometres west of Mkushi Boma.

Mr Mwamba sustained leg injuries while his messenger, Elias Nkunika, 34, sustained a disfigured face and broken legs and died at Mkushi District Hospital.

Mr Mwamba and his team were coming from Kabwe where they had travelled to attend a meeting with Central Province Permanent Secretary Edwidge Mutale.

Mr Lungu said the accident happened when a Toyota Hilux, registration number ACT 9244 coming from Kapiri Mposhi was hit from behind by the DC’s vehicle, a Toyota Hilux, registration number GRZ 481 CJ.

The Toyota Hilux was being driven by Hendrix Johanase Vil joen, 54, of Mkushi Farm Bloc.
