Work with government for development – DC
Lukulu, January 9, ZANIS — Lukulu District Commissioner Precious Muyenga has called on the community to work with the district administration in order to foster tangible development in the area.
Ms Muyenga who made this call when she inspected damaged feeder roads yesterday, said there is need for the general public to spearhead developmental programmes through community involvement.
She said most of the damaged feeder roads in the area are not gazetted hence the community should not be waiting for the district administration to do the work.
The District Commissioner however, said government is ready to work with its people but pointed out that the local community have to show commitment towards wanting to bring development in their area as government cannot decide for the people and work alone.
Ms Muyenga also called on traditional leaders to encourage their people to work with government by allowing the construction of drainage systems alongside the roads.
Most feeder roads and household properties got damaged due to the heavy storm which hit the district over the weekend.
