PRESIDENT Sata has cautioned government officials that he will fire them if they divulge confidential Government information to the public after taking an oath.
President Sata was speaking yesterday at State House when he swore in the newly appointed Home Affairs Minister Mr Ngosa Simbyakula who moved from the Justice Ministry where he was a deputy minister.
“You can ask Mr Kapeya (Minister of Information and Broadcasting Mwansa Kapeya) if you divulge information without our authority, we will sort you out…,” he said.
The President expressed confidence in the new Minister of Home Affairs whom he said he gave the job despite some detractors not supporting him [Simbyakula].
President Sata said classified information must be guarded jealously and anyone seen to be revealing it without clearance would face the “firing squad”.
The President commended Mr Simbyakula for the hard work he did while at the Justice Ministry and Home Affairs, saying his hard work has finally paid off.
Mr Simbyakula was appointed Minister of Home Affairs to replace Edgar Lungu, who became the second Minister of Defence since President Sata assumed office after a popular poll in September 2011.
