President Michael Sata has been praised for taking prompt action by dropping the Deputy Ministers of Agriculture and Labour Rogers Mwewa and Ronald Chitotela who are being investigated for alleged involvement in fraudulent deals.

Mr. Mwewa and Mr.Chitotela are being investigated by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) following revelations by the Auditor General that they purchased second hand ambulances for their constituencies using Constituency Development Funds (CDF) entrusted to them.

The Zambia Youths Association in the Fight Against Corruption (ACC) has observed that the bold step taken by President Sata should be commended as it will serve as a wake-up call to others.

ZYAFAC Executive Director Rickson Kanema says the move by the Head of State will also teach people in government to keep their hands away from government coffers.

Mr. Kanema has told Qfm News by telephone that his organization is also pleased that President Sata has acted on the calls from the people in the country that the two Deputy Ministers be relieved from their jobs in order for them to clear their names over allegations leveled against them.

Mr. Kanema has also commended the Auditor General for taking a bold step and expose the two former deputy ministers’ involvement in fraudulent deals.
