Faz Super League champions Nkana have signed midfielder Simon Bwalya from arch-rivals Power Dynamos.
The winger moves across the Ndola-Kitwe carriageway after four seasons at Power whom he joined from Lusaka Dynamos in 2009.
Nkana club secretary Ken Mwansa said they have also secured the services of Bwalya’s club mate at Power defender Maybin Chishimba.
“We have definitely added value because they are experienced players,” Mwansa said.
“Simon can withstand the pressures of the midfield in the Champions League and so is Maybin in defence, so we have added quality to our squad.”
Bwalya had his first taste of Africa in 2012 in Power’s brief spell in the Caf Champions League while Chishimba was part of Zanaco in the 2010 Confederation Cup.
Bwalya and Chishimba’s arrival brings to six players officials confirmed for the 2014 season.
Goalkeeper Rabson Muchelen’ganga has joined from Nchanga Rangers while striker Shadreck Musonda is on loan from Kalulushi Modern Stars.
Other arrivals include the Nkwazi duo of Derrick Mwansa and Augustin Mulenga.
Nkana won their 12th Faz Super League title in the 2013 season to earn the right to represent Zambia in the 2014 Champions League.
The Kitwe giants’ last outing in the same competition in 2002 ended in the pre-group stage where they were eliminated by eventual winners Zamalek of Egypt.
