Power Dynamos coach Tennant Chilumba is excited to see five of his players called up for Zambia’s 2013 Cecafa Cup outing.

The five call-ups sees Power contribute the largest number of players to Patrice Beaumelle’s 27-member provisional team named on Wednesday.

Power has not enjoyed a high profile presence in the Zambia setup for the last two years with goalkeeper Joshua Titima the only Chipolopolo regular these days.

Titima has been joined in the ranks by defender Lawrence Chungu and midfielder Emmanuel Chimpinde.

Both Chungu and Chimpinde have received their debut call-ups.

“I think I am happy that we are contributing something to the national team now,” Chilumba said.

“But now the onus is on them to work hard for a place and not just to go there to drink water and come back.”

Also called up to the team are midfielders Julius Situmbeko and Mathew Nkowane who were part of Zambia’s last two friendly’s against Egypt and Jordan.

“Their call-ups are not really a surprise because if you look at their performances after the mid-season break they all worked hard,” Chilumba said.

“No one was guaranteed a starting place and there was competition in the team for places.”

Meanwhile, Power lost two of their last 14 games in the second half of the season on their way to finishing 8th on the FAZ Super Division table.
