Govt appoints technical committee to ascertain KCM’s challenges

Government says it is has appointed a technical team which will give a general overview of the operations at Konkola Copper Mine (KCM) to ascertain the difficulties they are facing.

Mines deputy minister Richard Musukwa has told QFM News that this will help government ascertain KCM%u2019s viability.

Mr. Musukwa says government together with other stakeholders and KCM are competently handling the issues surrounding KCM to see how best to address the challenges the mine firm might be facing.

He adds that government will ensure that the jobs at the mine are secure, urging the workers at the mine to ensure they increase their productivity and be part of the company%u2019s survival plan.

He has further urged unions in the mining industry to work very close with KCM to ensure that the company survives.

Mr. Musukwa says the Patriotic Front government is a government that was elected on a platform of job creation and its allegiance is to the people of Zambia.
