Zambia draft Constitution

The opposition Zambians for Empowerment and Development (ZED) says it has no problem with the Ministry of Justice directing the Technical Committee to print only 10 copies of the final draft constitution as long as the copies of the draft are to be distributed electronically.

The directive by the Ministry of Justice has already provoked agitations from some civil society organizations and other opposition political parties such as the MMD which has warned the Patriotic Front (PF) government on alleged tricks to delay the coming up of the country’s new constitution.

ZED president Fredrick Mutesa has however told Qfm that for as long as copies of the final draft constitution is distributed electronically and put on a website, as far as the ZED is concerned, there should be no problem with the directive to print only 10 initial copies of the draft.

Dr. Mutesa notes that unless there is something that the government is not telling the nation about the final draft constitution, the printing of the 10 initial copies of the draft constitution should not be a problem.
