A THIRTY-TWO-YEAR-OLD man of Chilanga has sued for damages from a 26-year-old man of Lusaka’s John Laing Township who impregnated his sister twice without compensation.

This was in a case where Steven Lungu dragged to court Christopher Sakala after he allegedly failed to take care of the plaintiff’s sister.
The court heard that Sakala impregnated Lungu’s sister in 2010 when she was only 15 years old and doing her grade seven.
Lungu had apparently advised that Sakala be reported to the police for defilement but some family members opposed the idea for fear of traumatising his pregnant sister then and settled for compensation.
However, Lungu told the court that in 2012 when Sakala refused to pay for damage, they decided to take him to court before the case was withdrawn to settle it outside court.
“The two families sat and decided that he should pay K5,000 but he only managed to pay K200 and before he could finish paying he impregnated her again,” he said.
Lungu told the court that the defendant last year got his sister against everyone’s consent but the family was last month surprised that he decided to bring her back claiming that she was disrespectful.
But in his defence, Sakala told the court that he never refused to pay the K5,000 they were demanding but that he did not have the money because he was jobless.
“I took her back to her parents because she has no respect and had a lot of boyfriends,” he said.
Passing judgment magistrate Mable Mwaba, sitting with Mary Namangala, ordered him to pay the K5,000 he was asked and that the money should be paid in monthly installments of K100.
